4 Jahre Angewandte, irgendwann in den Achtzigern.
Seit 1988 Broterwerb durch therapeutische Tätigkeiten.
Zwecks eigener Psychohygiene häufig gestalterische Betätigungen im Privaten.
Z.B. Möbelentwurf oder auch gereimte Zeitungsartikel. Gemalt hat er auch manchmal. Und auf Knoten wirft er immer wieder ein Auge.

Die Strandkombinationen entstehen seit etwa 2000, sozusagen als Früchte des Müßigganges im Urlaub.
o.p. kann schlecht in der Sonne liegen und schaut sich deshalb den Müll an der da am Meer so rumliegt. Hut, Brille, Sunbloc, Bambusstock – Don Quichote lässt grüßen. Schlendert durch die Teerbatzen. Fährt sogleich auf Form und Patina des Treibgutes ab. Verbeugt sich innerlich vor Meer, Sonne und Vergänglichkeit sowie der reinen Poesie in all dem Dreck und schleppt die Dinger nach Hause.
Eine arg verschmitzte Muse zwingt op manchmal zum spielerischen Kombinieren der edlen Abfälle. Es wird gebastelt was das Zeug hält und zwar mit dem Anspruch die Einzelteile so zu nehmen wie sie sind. o.p. lacht sich ins Fäustchen als Fabeltiere, Kerle, Geishas, afrikanische Ahnenwesen und sogar Architektur aus dem Müll hervortreten. o.p. gefällt sich beim Fälschen von Reliquien.

— Die Komödie an sich. (Save the planet – Eat yourself)

oliver pernhaupt, Vienna, 1961.

University of Applied Arts, Vienna, somewhere back in the eighties. Earning money since '88 with therapeutic sessions. In order to keep his own psycho-hygiene, he went on being creative e.g. furniture design and rhyming newspaper articles. He also painted sometimes. And he always cast his eye on knots.

Since 15 years now, the combinations are the result: as the fruit of his idleness during his holidays.

o.p. finds it hard to lie in the sun, so he looks at all the garbage that can be found on the beach. Hat, sunglasses, sunblock, bamboo stick – salutes to Don Quixote. Takes a stroll through the lumps of tar. Simply loves the shape and patina of the flotsam. He bows toward the sea, the sun and the ephemeral nature as well as to the pure poetry of all the dirt and carries everything home with him.

A bad mischievous muse forces o.p. then, to combine the noble garbage playfully. In a frenzy he crafts away with the claim to take all the single parts just the way they are.

 o.p. chuckles as fabulous creatures, dudes, geishas, African forebears and even architecture emerge out of the garbage. o.p. likes himself faking relics.
